BASE Education

TIER I Base Education

BASE’s clinical courses are designed to be paired with others for a well-rounded and all-encompassing approach. All courses have mirror-image counterparts for adults (teachers, parents, guardians). All courses cover psychoeducation, combined with therapeutic processing in order to have students best internalize their thoughts, feelings, and ultimately their beliefs and behaviors.

9th Grade Engagement Pathway

  1. Getting to Know You An inquiry into the minds of our youth - what they think about themselves, how they think others see them, what goals they may (or may not) have, where they would like to attend on-the-job training or college, what sort of career they are interested in and/or where to live after graduation. 20 min
  2. Adjusting to the New Normal helps to welcome students back and normalize their feelings about the last and the present year. 
  3. ​Motivation Defines motivation, outlines the various types, explores barriers to success, and provides tools to overcome challenges. Discusses ways to improve motivation, highlights the importance, reviews a plan for the future. 40min- 2hours
  4. ​Anxiety Educate, normalize, and resource students to combat anxiety. 35 min- 1hour 45 minutes
  5. Character Traits Defines positive character traits such as empathy, honesty, integrity, accountability, and respect. Highlights importance of strong character, explores barriers to success, provides tools to overcome challenges, and helps implement healthy traits. Reviews a plan for the future. 45 minutes- 2 hour 15 minutes
  6. Self Esteem Explores barriers to success, provides tools to overcome challenges and review a plan for the future. 30 min- 1 hour 20 minutes
  7. Impulsive Decision Making Defines impulsivity, discussed repercussions of dangerous behavior, discusses teenage tendencies, defines alternative behaviors, explores barriers to success, provides tools to overcome challenges, teaches healthy replacements, and reviews a plan for the future. 20 minutes- 1 hour
  8. ​Putting it all Together Reviews and collaborates all skills used in modules for a successful return to school and life. Reviews the importance of implementation, and bolsters student confidence for maximized reintegration. 30 minutes- 1 hour 15 minutes

10th Grade Engagement Pathway

  1. Vision of Self Defines vision of self, discusses, healthy versus unhealthy perspectives, teaches how to implement healthy viewpoints, discusses personal vision, outlines tools for growth. Explores barriers to success, and provides tools to overcome challenges. 25 min- 1 hour-15 minutes
  2. Adjusting to the New Normal helps to welcome students back and normalize their feelings about the last and the present year
  3. Stress Management Students learn the basic signals of stress and become comfortable with the purpose of stress and stress management. Students learn the brain/body connection, and come away with self-understanding. Students complete creation of tools to navigate simple stress all the way through complex high-performance pressure. 30 minutes
  4. Coping Strategies Defines coping strategies, highlights the importance, provides examples, helps to individually define skills that work for each student. Explores barriers to success, and provides tools to overcome challenges. Teaches appropriate implementation, reviews a plan for the future. 40 minute- 2 hours
  5. Future Goals Defines what it means to have goals, and highlights the benefit of being focused. Helps the student to create a vision for one’s self, and discusses strategies to stay on task. Explores barriers to success, and provides tools to overcome challenges. 1 hour- 2 hour 30 minutes
  6. Learned Helplessness Defines learned helplessness, uncovers origins of such beliefs, demonstrates how overcoming helplessness lends itself to empowerment. Explores barriers to success, and provides tools to overcome challenges. Pairs well with Self-Esteem. 35 minutes- 1 hour 45 minutes
  7. Primary and Secondary Impacts of Behavior Defines impacts of behavior, outlines the types of impacts, discusses importance of understanding one’s effect on their world, and highlights drawback of negative impacts. Explores barriers to success, and provides tools to overcome challenges. Provides suggestions for improving one’s personal impact on their world, reviews a plan for the future.​ 30 min- 1 hour 30 minutes
  8. Putting it all Together Reviews and collaborates all skills used in modules for a successful return to school and life. Reviews the importance of implementation, and bolsters student confidence for maximized reintegration. 30 min 1 hour 15 minutes
