UCS Homework Enrichment Learning Program (HELP) Afterschool Program

The UCS HELP after-school program exists to provide support for students that need extra support in an academic area where there has been prior documented difficulty. The program will resume 2nd semester on Monday, January 18th right after FLEX and last until 5:00pm. It will run Mondays through Thursdays after that.

The UCS Help program participation is by teacher recommendation only and will provide a structured learning place for your child to get support in their academic classes and/or complete make-up work or homework as needed. There will be a snack provided, and bus transportation can also be provided to certain predetermined drop off points if needed.

Please see the enrollment documents listed below that include: the Afterschool Handbook, the Afterschool bus drop off list, and the Afterschool Registration form. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to myself or Dr. Beach, UCS HELP Site Coordinator at 706-745-2216.

Thank you!
Details of the Homework Enrichment Learning Program (HELP)
  • Once a student commits to attending after-school, the student's teachers are contacted to get an idea of how help can be provided for each individual student.
  • Each week an updated grade report is printed so that students can keep track of what needs to be done and to observe their grades improve as work is completed. It is up to the individual teachers to decide what can and cannot be made up. Additionally, students are asked to email their teacher once they have submitted an assignment. If completed work is a hard copy, it is put into the teacher's mailbox on the day that it is completed.
  • After-school is not just for students who are not being academically successful. We encourage everyone to attend if they can as some might need a quiet place to study or an opportunity to work with their group -- whatever the case, they are welcome to stay with us for support and/or enrichment.
  • After-school meets Mondays - Thursdays from 3:15 - 5:00pm. We do have bus transportation to certain drop off points around the county if parents are unable to pick up in person at UCHS by 5:00pm.
  • The program is flexible with students who may have work obligations, etc. Some students just come one day a week while some come all four. The program is designed to be a support program to help students who are performance related stress, anxiety and are generally overwhelmed with success.
  • Teachers continually recommend students from their classes or homerooms and are working to spread the word about after-school to all of our students.
  • Teachers from each academic  subject area participate in the afterschool  to insure that there is individualized help available to participants when they get stuck or have questions.

Please reach out to Mr. Miller or Dr. Beach if you have any questions.
